Willie Jerald Tanner, 73 of Webster Springs passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Webster County Memorial Hospital. He was born April 04, 1941 in Webster Springs to George and Mae Weese Tanner and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. He retired from Alltell where he was the CEO technician for 36 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs; former coach of Webster County Little League Football, former member of the Webster Springs Building Authority, and was a weather informant for the State of West Virginia for many years. He loved playing with his grandchildren more than anything.
Willie is survived by his wife Judy; son William Dwayne "Bub" Tanner of Webster Springs; daughter Sharon (husband Ryan) Baird of Webster Springs; brothers Noah "Buck" (wife Linda) Tanner of Kentucky, Ray (wife Beth) Tanner of Webster Springs, Jeff (wife Cindy) Tanner of Weston, and Richard (wife Nancy) Tanner of Ohio; sisters Naomi "Peachie" Gregory of Webster Springs, Sandy (husband Clark) Mollohan of Hacker Valley, Caroline Tanner of Webster Springs, Cora Lindsey of Uniontown, PA, Brenda Black of Lancaster, PA, and Teresa Tanner of Canton, OH; and grandchildren Morgan Tanner, Kenton "Bubby" Tanner, and Sydney, Bryce, and Spencer Baird. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Sonny Tanner; and sisters Anita and Linda Tanner.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Willie's life will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis officiating.
