William Paul "Bill" Bennett, 85 of Summersville, WV passed away on August 7, 2011 at Summersville Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  He was born November 17, 1925 to Howard W. and Bessie Bennett in Backus Mountain, Fayette County, West Virginia and lived most of his life in Bolair, WV.  He retired from the mines and enjoyed hunting, traveling, and listening to blue grass music.  He was a member of the VFW, UMWA, and NRA and attended New Beginning Worship Center in Summersville.  He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII on the Montpielier.

Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years Ruth Emogene Quinn Bennett; sons Dr. Roger Paul (Susan) Bennett of Webster Springs, Gary K. (Barbara) Bennett of Fairmont, Clyde J. (Debbie) Bennett of Duck, WV, Dale (Beverly) Bennett of Flatwoods, and Michael Bennett of Columbus, Ohio; daughters Cathy (Kenneth) Norman of Summersville, Barbara (Bill) Mellott of Westerville, Ohio, and Carol (Jerry) Toothman of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 special nieces Jean Wayne and Joan Fitzpatrick.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ira Bennett.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 6-9 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 1 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Shepard officiating.  Interment will follow in Hacker Valley Cemetery.
