Virginia Hazel McCourt, 83 of Cowen passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at CAMC Memorial. She was born October 31, 1929 in Webster County to Allen Andrew and Zora Mae Payne McCourt and was a waitress. She lived the majority of her life in Webster County and was Pentecostal by faith attending Upperglade Holiness Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, canning, camping, picnics, and shopping.
Virginia is survived by her sons Robert Allen (Loretta) McCourt of Webster Springs and James Madison (Wanda) McCourt of Bedford, OH; daughter Vickie Lee Wilson of Webster Springs; brothers Thomas of Webster Springs, Arden of Cambridge, OH, and George T. of Sutton; sister Izetta B. Ware of Sutton; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Luvera Mae McCourt; granddaughter Michelle McCourt; and brothers Hayward, Dale, and Jasper.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Propst officiating. Interment will follow in Joe McCourt Cemetery.
