Verda F. "Vertie" Mason, 93 of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Summersville Regional Medical Center. She was born March 5, 1918 on Grassy Creek to Lock Loyal and Alice Anderson Gregory. She was a lifelong resident of Webster Springs, a retired store clerk, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs.
Vertie is survived by her sons Marlis Eli Mason and Wayman Everett Lee of South Whitlay, IN; daughters Melba Lou (Rocky) Clay of Summersville, Marcia Elaine (Randall) Carpenter of Creston, OH, and Myra Rose Blankenship of Elkins; brothers Elmer Gregory of PA, Howard Gregory of Orrville, OH, and Carl Gregory of Cleveland, OH: sister Ollie Varney of Craigsville; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen Allen Mason; daughter Velva A. Presock; four brothers Cecil, Olan, Nelson, and Lance Gregory; and two sisters Rose Bruffy and Retha Perrine.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Steve White officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Webster Springs.
