Verbena Vandevender

Verbena G. Vandevender, 75 of Upper Glade passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Summersville Regional Medical Center. She was born November 13, 1938 in Webster Springs to Eula Vandevender Henderson and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. She was a cook and enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Verbena is survived by her sons Ronnie Tschantz of Upper Glade, Jim Perrine of Charleston, Steve Howard of Mt. Olive, and Doug Howard of Elkins; daughters Lisa Hitchman of Elkins, Cathy Thorp of Baltimore, MD, Tammy Howard of Elkins, and Kathy Hamrick of Elkins; sister Janie of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Barbara Tschantz; and grandparents. Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ty Farlow officiating. Interment followed in Carpenter Cemetery, Guardian.
