Vella Hall

Vella Leone McCourt Hall, 87 of Webster Springs, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the home of her daughter Kathie Holcomb.  She was born December 6, 1923 in Webster Springs to Roscoe Jenkins and Surilda Skeens McCourt and was formerly married to Bobbie Joe Hall.  She was a school teacher, Postmaster at Diana Post Office, and worked for Webster County Senior Citizens.  Vella lived most of her life in Webster Springs.  She loved to quilt, cook, sew, and work in her flower gardens.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Vella is survived by her children Kathie (Frank Canfield) Holcomb and Marjorie (Doyle "Butch") Davis of Webster Springs, Pamela McElroy and Kimberly (Roger) Boggs of Summersville, Mike Hall and Robert Hall of Webster Springs, Lester (Penny) Hall of Cowen, Jeffery (Joy) Hall and Kevin (Rachel) Hall of Webster Springs; brothers Jennings McCourt and Ted McCourt of Webster Springs; sisters Irene Scritchfield of Clarksburg, Arlene "Boots" Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ann Hult of Gassaway; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Judy Payne, shelby McElroy, and Mildred "Midge" Hamrick; and brother Verdon McCourt.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 6-9 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 3:30 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis and Rev. Gerald Hamrick officiating.  Interment will follow in Harrison Cochran Cemetery, Webster Springs.
