Teri Rae (Gum) Gillespie, 65, of Hacker Valley passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Born May 7, 1960 in Buckhannon, she was the daughter of Sharon (Lowther) Gum and the late Elbert Gum. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother and father in law: Coy and Lucealie Gillespie; and her brother-in-law, Aaron Hamrick.

Teri was a 1994 graduate of Davis and Elkins College, where she earned her degree to be a Registered Nurse. During her teenage years, she was a cheerleader was a member of the National Honors’ Society. She later took to playing volleyball and golf. She was involved with the local 4-H chapter throughout her entire life, passing on the tradition of being part of the club to her two boys. Being part of 4-H, she was one with nature. She loved all animals, especially birds and squirrels. She was also the family “weather woman”. She held a strong Christian faith, and was a member of the Mt. Zion Church. Teri was a faithful and devoted wife and mother and took care of everything for the whole family.

Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life, Cares Gillespie; mother, Sharon Gum; two sons: RC (Kara) Gillespie and Jackson (Tina) Gillespie; grandchildren: Brayden, Kyan, Will, Katelynn, Ryelle, and Bryce Gillespie; two sisters: Julia (Randy) Rader, and their son Max; and Jamie Hamrick; her faithful companion, her dog, Sam-E; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Services to celebrate Teri’s life will be held 2PM, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Alexander Anderson Cemetery in Hacker Valley with Pastor Chris Cosner officiating.
