Sylvia Cowger

Sylvia Pearl Cowger, 91 of hacker Valley went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the residence of her daughter. She was born August 17, 1922 in Hacker Valley to Claude and Effie Cowger Jordan and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of Webster County and enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, making rugs, deer hunting, and being outdoors. She could find ginseng when no one else could. She loved spending time with her family. Sylvia is survived by her son Kenneth (wife Karen) Cowger of Four States; daughters Wilma Jean (Dempsey) Carpenter of Hacker Valley and Katherine (husband Paul Jr.) Anderson of Cleveland; sister Mary Lee Roby of Geneva, OH; grandchildren Leonard (wife Rita) Carpenter, Jessie (Jaime) Anderson, and Twana (companion Rodney) Cowger; great-grandchildren Brock, Logan, Jenna, Colton, Macknzie, Kassidy, and Gaberial; great-great--grandchildren Tray, Mason, and Hannah; and her dog Skippy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Okey Hillard Cowger; and brothers Lawrence, Jink, Garnet, Mason, and Dana Jordan. Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Sylvia's life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cosner officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Replete.
