Shirley Elaine Hamrick Kessler, 65 of Belpre, OH went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2014 after a valiant struggle with ovarian cancer. Shirley was born October 14, 1948 in Webster Springs to Marvin and Della Helmick Hamrick. She graduated from Webster Springs High School in 1966 and was a Teacher's Aide at Bergoo Elementary School and secretary for Pocahontas Memorial Hospital. She worked as a Detachment secretary, office assistant, and driver examiner for 36 A½ years for the West Virginia State Police in Marlinton, Parkersburg, and St. Mary's, retiring in August of 2005. She attended Belpre Congregational Church, loved camping, motorcycling, WVU sports, and NASCAR races.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 47 A½ years, Clifford Kessler; faithful pets Odie and Buttons; sister Jackie (Bobby) Mattingly and nephew Tommy Hazelett of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother Johnny (Linda Irene) Hamrick of Pulaski, VA, their children Annette Briggs and Logan Hamrick; brother-in-law George Lough of Mt. Clare, his children Theresa Turner, Melissa Starkey, and Monica Myers; Uncle Freeman (Virginia) Hamrick of Chesapeake, VA; Aunt Goldie Helmick of Zanesville, OH; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and a host of neighbors and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Nancy Lough; niece Jessica Shingleton; and nephew Darrell Turner.

Friends may join the family on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM at the Belpre Congregational Church. Services to celebrate Shirley's life and a sharing of memories will be held at 3:30 PM by Pastor Jeff Atwater.

Friends may join the family on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Services to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tom Kessler and Rev. Bennie Cowger officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowland Cemetery, Bergoo.
