Shirley Ann Cogar

Shirley Ann Cogar, 83 of Cowen passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Webster Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born in Desert Fork, Webster County, on July 17, 1941 to the late Hansford and Nora Pugh Cogar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Cogar; one sister; and two brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ronald Cogar of Laurel Fork, Joyce (Trigger) Morrison of Cowen, Jesse (Becky) Cogar of Bolair, Robert Cogar of Cowen, Melinda (Cleveland) Barbe of Newcastle, VA, and Larry Cogar of Webster Springs; brothers: Garce (Josphine) Cogar of Sugar Creek, John (Sharon) Cogar of Hacker Valley, Lee Cogar of Webster Springs; grandchildren: Ayden Lewis, Charles Cutlip, Monica Barbe (Clabe Hicks), and Lita Lewis; great-grandson Clabe Hicks, Jr; her little dog Gizmo; her cat Tom; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends to mourn her passing.

Shirley loved her children and grandkids. She loved to work puzzles and puzzle books. She enjoyed working in her flowers and watching stuff grow.

Funeral Services to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Cogar Cemetery, Laurel Fork.

Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to service time, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.
