Sarah Ruth Holbrook (aka Ruth Ann), 76, died on Monday, June 16, 2025. Ruth resided with her lovely daughter, Megan Paige and her husband Jadon Stapley and her two grandchildren (her pride & joy) Gracie & Jaxon in Chandler, Arizona.
Ruth was born on October 28, 1948; she was one of six children born to John and Frannie Holbrook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the man of her dreams, Elvis Presley.
Ruth had a wonderful childhood growing up in Shamrock Hollow in Cabin Creek. She had two lifelong friends from grade school, Diane Casto and Karen Rumberg. Ruth was a cheerleader at Leewood School in her 8th grade year. When she graduated from East Bank High School, Ruth went to work for Walker Machinery. She then went to work for Bethlehem Steel. After getting laid off from Bethlehem in the early 80's, Ruth went to work at Valley Camp Coal Company where she performed all the duties of the Purchasing Agent, but received no credit nor pay commiserate with her duties. But she did meet more friends like June Batton, Corky Martin, Kim Scites, Jerry Bird, Larry Gibson, Nancy and Charlotte. She also met her best friend, Teresa and they would be BEST friends for life. In 1989, Ruth moved to Arizona to create a better life for her and Paige, at which she was very successful. She ended her work career after working 20 years as a legal secretary for CVG Law. She spent her retirement years doing what she absolutely loved more than anything, helping raise her grandbabies, Gracie and Jaxon. Ruth will be forever known for her laughter and sense of humor. She was truly one of the funniest people ever.
Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her daughter and grandchildren are her brothers and sisters: Eleanore Totten, Bennett Holbrook and his wife, Sharon, Jane Shrum and her husband, Jim, Joy Bobbitt and her husband, Charlie, and Laura Mae (AKA Aunt Pete) Sterpka; along with many nieces and nephews; her best friend, Teresa Berry; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Services to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held 12 Noon, Monday, June 30, 2025 at Chelyan First Baptist Church, 6 James River Road, Chelyan. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may join the family 11am-12 Noon for a visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church.
