Roda Fern Carpenter, 81 of Cowen passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at her residence. She was born October 28, 1933 in Bolair to James Gordon and Flossie A. Hammons Ware and was a lifelong resident of Webster County and Jehovah Witness by faith. She worked as a housekeeper for many people throughout Webster Springs and enjoyed working puzzles. She loved to go for a drive to see what was going on around town and to get out and run around.

Roda is survived by her daughter Sherry (Darren) Cool of Webster Springs; brother Arnold (Trudy) Ware of Diana; sisters Wilma Tyler of Cowen, Louise (David) Tyler of Bolair, Jaunita (Larry) Tracy of Atwater, OH, Jessie Pitts of Cowen, and Goldie Chambers of Cowen; grandchildren Makayla and Calib Cool; special friends Phyllis Simmons and Ralph Rodgers; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Oliver Donald Carpenter; brothers James Richard Ware and Darrell Burton Ware; sisters Mary Cowger, Renia Gay Null, Bernice Ann Johnson, Virginia Rodgers, Saraha Alice Bragg, two infant sisters, and two infant brothers.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Roda's life will be held at 2:00 PM with Brother Bob McElwain officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Diana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Dodd & Reed Funeral Home to assist with funeral arrangements.
