Robert H. “Bob” Waybright, 68, of Webster Springs, WV, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg following an extended illness.

He was born October 23, 1957 in Elkins, WV, the son of the late George William and Clara Rosalee Hicks Waybright.

Bob attended Webster County schools and graduated in the first graduating class from Webster County High School in 1975. While attending vocational school in Kanawha County, a car accident resulted in Bob becoming a paraplegic. He had a small engine repair business with his dad.

Applying for and being hired as a teacher’s aid with disabled students at Webster County High School proved to be a perfect fit for Bob. He built strong relationships with his kids and many other students. Bob could be found encouraging and assisting many students throughout his 20 years in this position.

Bob coordinated care for his stepmother. He also was a 4-H leader and an active member of the WV Statewide Independent Living Council. As a member of WVSILC, Bob actively advocated for legislation and policies that had a positive impact on the lives of disabled persons and their families.

Bob spent six years at Mountainview Care Center, a skilled nursing facility, where he continued to be an advocate for other residents who couldn’t speak for themselves. He was currently serving as President of the Residents Council.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Wilma Bell Waybright; brothers: Gerald “Jerry” Waybright and James “Jim” Waybright; Sister Rose Marie Young; step-sister Genice Bell Milliner; and sister-in-law Charlotte Dodson Waybright.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers: George C. (Mary) Waybright of Carmel, IN and Dick (Linda) Waybright of Ravenswood, WV; sister Nancy (Dave) Talbott of Vienna, WV; brother-in-law Sean Milliner of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law Janet Waybright of Webster Springs, WV; step-sister Jeanine Bell of Indianapolis, IN; 13 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family and friends to mourn his passing.
