Rexell Paul Barbe

Rexell Paul Barbe, 64, of Hodam Creek, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Born March 4, 1960 in Webster Springs, he was the son of the late Ora Cleveland and Lela (Davis) Barbe Cogar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister: Clyde and Cora; and his niece, Norma Darlene “Squeak” McIe.

Rexell was a homebody and a loner, but enjoyed visiting his family a few times a week to catch up on things. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time 4-wheeling, fishing, and digging ramps. When he was able, he even worked in the timber industry, and was able to enjoy the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains while working.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers: Delbert (Norma) Barbe, Cleveland (Melinda) Barbe, Denver Barbe, Ronnie Barbe, and Robert (Patricia) Barbe; sisters: Norma Mitchell, Nual Ann Shultz, and Sharon (John) Cogar; nieces and nephews: Delta Cowger, Sheila Quinn, Heather Dilley, Ronnie Barbe, Jr., Delbert Barbe, Becky Collins, David Springer, Robert Nathan Barbe, James Earl Barbe, Rebecca Culver, Lisa O’Dell, Cleveland Barbe, Doyle Lee McIe, Mary Ann McIe, Charles McIe, Johnny Cogar, Shawnda Miller, Darius Clark, Monica Barbe (Caleb Hicks, Sr.), Ceira Hamrick, Ashley McIe, and Sabrina McIe; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. 

Services to celebrate Rexell’s life will be held 1pm, Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family for visitation one hour prior to the funeral from 12pm-1pm. Burial will take place following the services at Hodam Creek Cemetery.
