Randall Allen Carpenter, 71, of Webster Springs, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Montgomery General Hospital. He was born January 28, 1954 in Webster Springs, to the late Sampson “Junior” and Geraldine “Juggy” (Ware) Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie (Cool) Carpenter; and brothers: Dusty Carpenter and Gregg Carpenter. Randy was a 1971 graduate of Webster Springs High School, where he earned the coveted title of All-State Football Player. In these formative years of his life, he met, dated, and fell in love with Debbie Cool. Their high school sweetheart status would be turned into an eternal bond when they married on December 14, 1974. Together, the couple had two amazing children: Heather and Ryan. He devoted his life to the betterment of his family, making sure that they were taken care of in every way. Though he was away for most of the week, working in the mines, he would spend every moment possible attending as many sporting events and other activities that his kids were involved in. Eventually, though, he would turn in his low-vein hat and become a business man, opening his own convenience store, RC Mart, in order to be able to devote more time to being the best husband and father he could. He also helped with The Bergoo Store and The Trading Post, which Debbie ended up purchasing years later. Hunting and fishing with Ryan was one of his favorite things to do. And he became one of the absolute best “Cheerleader Dads” to Heather. The outdoors was where Randy flourished, he was definitely one with nature. And he loved to share this enjoyment with all of the people that he loved, friends and family, alike. You could always find him taking advantage of this fondness, whether it be taking 4-wheeler rides or being on an open body of water. He reveled in trips to go camping on the lake, spending many weekends pulling his kids and bonus kids around on tubes; everyone knew he was going to purposely upset their tubes and toss them into the lake… especially later in the day after he settled in. In addition, he taught all of them how to water ski. He took many fishing trips to locations that included: Alaska, Florida Keys, Canada, Cancun, and Lake Erie. Out of everywhere that he traveled, his favorite family vacation spot was Alaska. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ryan Carpenter and Heather (Chris) Campbell; grandchildren: Jayde Hamrick, Bo Carpenter, and Jase Campbell; and many extended family and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral Services to celebrate Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Butch Rose officiating.
