Paul “Sonny” Clay Sears, 92, of Diana passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at his home. He was born September 9, 1933 in Diana to the late Hurley and Alice Cool Sears.

Sonny was a machine operator in the construction business and was a proud United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and was an all-around Mr. Fix-it. He loved his animals, enjoyed singing, and was an avid golfer. He was full of wit and was a witty person, always having a story to tell. He was the self-proclaimed Mayor of Diana. Sonny loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shelvie Jean Clifton Sears and siblings: Bob, Barb, Vernon, Bud, Charlene, Charles, Frankie, Tootie, Boots, and Betty.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Liz Sears, Mike Sears, David Clifton, and Brenda Williams; grandchildren: Alicia Lentz, Jason Lentz, Stephanie Sears, Scott Sears, and Mark Williams; siblings: Karen, Helen, Jimmy, and Jerry; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services to celebrate Sonny’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Kenneth Pritt officiating. Interment will follow in Carpenter Cemetery, Guardian.

Friends may join the family for visitation one hour prior to service time, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
