Parris V. Hamrick, 79 of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born June 13, 1938 in Hacker Valley to Corley Clyde and Arizona Florence McCartney Hamrick and was a coal miner. Parris enjoyed spending time with his family and helping anyone he could. He was a member of the Grassy Creek Community Church.
Parris is survived by his wife Dora Stephenson Hamrick; son Parris Dewayne Hamrick; daughters Stella Lee (Roger) Knight, Felicia Ann Lawrence, adopted-daughter Ella Tanner; step-children Leslie Claypool and Anita McCartney; brothers Harry (wife Lou) Hamrick, Larry (wife Sharon) Hamrick, Roger (wife Missy) Hamrick, and Jerry (wife Jeanette) Hamrick; sisters Belvie Langdon, Ina Jane Cogar, Wilma Lee Owens, Brenda Hamrick, Lorna (husband Bobo) McCourt, Anita (husband Kent) Aleshire, Velda (husband Ronnie) Barbe, and Drema (husband Wayne) Gray ; sister-in-law Betty Hamrick; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Charles Vernon Hamrick and Billy Clyde Hamrick; daughter Colleen Faye Hamrick; and brother Jimmie Hamrick.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Parris’ life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Pritt officiating. Interment will follow in Cutlip Cemetery, Jumbo.
