Orval "Sonny" Phillips

Orval Ralph “Sonny” Phillips, 77,  of Camden-On-Gauley passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born February 24, 1941 in Pocohontas County, he was the son of the late Orval Lee and Pauline (Arbogast) Phillips.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelena Phillips; daughter, Debbie Phillips; and siblings, Ruth, Paul, Don, Helen, Wayne, and Timmy.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on old cars, and especially visiting with his family; particularly his grandchildren.  Sonny was a retired coal miner and attended the First Missionary Baptist Church in Camden-On-Gauley.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Flora Wright-Phillips; children, Donald (wife, Jennifer) Phillips of Mt. Nebo, Randy (wife, Susie) Phillips of Craigsville, Ralph Phillips of Camden-On-Gauley, Donna (husband, Craig) Brown of Glade Creek, Lisa Hanna of Fenwich, Johnna Phillips of Gilboa, James (wife, Tammy) Wright, Bobby (wife, Lisa) Wright, and Tom (wife, Emily) Wright, all of VA; grandchildren, Samantha, Donelle, Rachel, Christopher, Jessica, Alisha, Ethan, Tiffany, PJ, Timmy, Tressa, Jacob, Jaden, Daniel, Rachel, Nicholas, Patrick, Taylor, Tanner, Madison, Sierra and Autumn; siblings, Floyd of Rainelle, Michael, Gladys, Connie, and Mary, all of OH; several great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Services to celebrate Sonny’s life will be held 2pm. Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with the Rev. Tom Kessler officiating.  Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs.

Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9pm, Monday evening, at the funeral home.
