Nancy Cool Gillespie, 83 of Webster Springs went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Charleston Area Medical Center. She was born May 21, 1929 in Diana to Alpheus "Tator" and Dora Sears Cool. She worked for the FBI Center in Washington, DC from 1947-1954 as a typist in the Indemnity Department, Lawyers Wysong & Wysong in Webster Springs, and served as Webster County Clerk from 1968-1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs where she sang in the choir and was organist and piano player. She enjoyed going to other area churches, especially to their revivals. She was a Past Worthy Grand Matron in the Order-of-Eastern Star Chapter #145 in Webster Springs and was also a member of Webster Springs Main Street. Nancy was a sweet, caring person who will be missed by the people of Webster County.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband E. James Gillespie who passed away June 6, 2002; her parents; brother Robert Z. "Bob" Cool; and sister Mary Lee Cunningham Griffith. She is survived by her sister Betty Jean and husband Mack McGinty of Clearwater, FL; special friends Doy & Suzie Carpenter; caregivers Doris White and Felicia Brake; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Steve White officiating; Eulogy will be given by Jack Alsop; and special music by Rev. Steve White and Rev. Marty Cowger. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs.
