Monna Simmons

Monna Evette (Massey) Simmons, 65, of Hacker Valley passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston.

She was born July 23, 1952 in Richwood, and was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Dessie Carpenter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Arnie Carpenter, Arnel Carpenter, and Jimmy Massey; and sister, Francis Paul.

Monna attended Long Run Community church.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Delmos Simmons; son, Robert (wife, Niki) Brown; daughter, Samantha (husband, Phillip) McCourt; step-sisters Brenda Bender and Sheila and Bruce Anderson; sisters, Donna (husband, Buck) Fisher, Sarah (Cookie) Bognia, and Willa Marie Wilt; brothers, Bruce Massey, Jerry Massey, John Massey, Jack Massey, Leonard Massey; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Services to celebrate Monna’s life will be held 1pm, Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with the Reverend Curt Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in Hodam Creek Cemetery, Hacker Valley.

Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
