Maxine V. Arthur, 92 of Webster Springs, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Webster Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born May 15, 1922 in Webster Springs to Henry Lee and Sarah Bennett Hamrick and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. She was a housekeeper/laundry supervisor for Webster County Memorial Hospital for many years and enjoyed flowers, working in her flower bed, crochet, embroidery, crafting, and feeding the birds. She was Christian by faith and loved going to church, attending Union Valley Church and Point Mountain Community Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Maxine was a joy to be around and was always uplifting others and praising the Lord. Maxine is survived by her son Edward "Eddie" (wife Mary Jayne) Arthur of Carriere, MS; daughters Judith "Judy" (husband Tom) Cockrill of Ft. Myers, FL and Suzanne "Susie" (husband Delmas) McCoy of Webster Springs; sister Ruth Grover of Idaho; grandchildren Michelle (husband Eugene) McDonald, Tim (wife Shelly) Higginbotham, Chris (wife Patricia) Arthur, Keith (wife Heidi) Arthur, Annette (husband Dannie Burke) McCourt, and Lisa (husband Clinton) Cochran; great-grandchildren Blair, Jared, David, Rachel, Andi, Cole, Graham, Sarah, Emily, Lauren, Kennedy, Kacie, and Carson; three great-great-grandchildren; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bazil E. Arthur; brother Elwood; and sisters Eloise, Paulette, Thelma, and Elizabeth. Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Arlin Carpenter and Rev. Curt Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs.
