Mary Tonkin

Mary Jane Tonkin 50, of Webster Springs, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, August 11, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with her family at her side. She had given her life to the Lord.

Mary Jane was born in Webster Springs, WV on May 13, 1969, the daughter of the late Jack H. Tonkin and Mandy (Cogar) Tonkin. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.

Mary Jane graduated from Webster County High School in 1987. She worked in the Northern part of Maryland and around the Philadelphia, PA area in the late 80's. In the early 90's, she trained to be a Travel Agent in Dayton, Ohio. Upon completion of training, she worked for Great American Vacations in Charleston. Mary Jane had also worked as a medical coder for Bluecross/Blueshield also in Charleston, and in medical records for Webster Memorial Hospital for three years after moving back to Webster Springs in 2007; where she then lived out the remainder of her life.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, Jack H. Tonkin, husband Fred Puffinburger, her oldest sister Gail Bickel Dilley Metheney, and a nephew Jeffrey Cole Young.

Mary Jane is survived by her companion Jim Willison, son and daughter-in- law Logan and Amy Taylor of Proctor, WV., stepdaughter Jennifer Headley of Parkersburg, WV, stepgrandson Zachary Headley of Parkersburg, WV, mother Mandy Cogar Tonkin and stepdad Paul Green of Webster Springs, sisters Wanda Cogar of Webster Springs, Sandy and husband Jeff Young of Webster Springs, and stepsister Angie Hamrick of Webster Springs. Brother Jack (Jackie) and wife Kathy Tonkin of Webster Springs, and her Nan Doris White of Webster Springs. Nieces Amanda Tonkin and companion Golden Skeens of Webster Springs, Caitlan and husband David Riffle of Webster Springs. Nephews Brent and wife Jody Metheney of Buckhannon, Clinton and wife Leslie Young of Webster Springs, Cameron White of Webster Springs, Zachary and wife Katie Tonkin of Niskayuna, NY. Great nieces and nephews Caysen McCourt, Dawsyn McCourt, Deietta Skeens, Caden Young, Guin Young, Colebie Riffle, Laurel Metheney, Bear Metheney and Colt Metheney. Mary Jane also leaves behind special friends Lanette Hamrick Short, Carla Griffith Clevenger, Melissa Leslie Dilley, Mary Compton Cogar, Retha (Teet) Clayton and so many others.

Services to celebrate Mary Jane's life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Dodd and Reed Funeral Home with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Funeral Services with Doy Carpenter officiating at 2:00 p.m.. Interment will be held in Cogar Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dodd and Reed Funeral Home to assist with her expenses.
