Mary Carpenter

Mary Helen Carpenter, 86 of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 12:48 PM at Webster Continuous Care & Rehabilitation Center.  She was born March 21, 1927 at Grassy Creek to Luther and Eunice Studivan Lough and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.  She retired from the Webster County Board of Education in 1988 where she worked as Secretary to the Superintendent and for the Title One Program.  She was a faithful member of Laural Mt. United Methodist Church where she served as MYF Leader, sang in a quartet, and was Secretary.

Mary Helen is survived by her sons Mike (Vickie) Carpenter of Salem and Randy Carpenter of Webster Springs; daughter Louise (Mark) Starcher of Augusta, GA; sisters Connie (Charles) Kessler of Webster Springs and Jackie (Paul) Brown of LaGrange, OH; brother John Riffle of Buckhannon; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold F. Carpenter; son Lindsay Carpenter; and brother David Lough.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.  Funeral Services to celebrate Mary Helen's life will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow in WV Memorial Gardens, Calvin.
