Former Webster County High School Librarian, Martha “Sally” Moore, 80 of Webster Springs, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at home surrounded by her family and animals Hallie and Joe Cat.
Ms. Moore was born in Webster Springs on December 19, 1935, to Thomas and Edna Bullion Moore. She was a hard-working, independent woman who encouraged reading and education. She was a graduate from Glenville State College and went on to earn her Master’s Degree.
Ms. Moore was involved in the publication of the County High School Yearbooks. She supervised the Upward Bound Program and helped many students further their education. She loved animals, rescued many and gave them a wonderful home. After retirement, she became a member of Webster Springs Main Street and volunteered numerous hours.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Thomas W. Moore and Jacob Moore; and sisters Jessie Cogar and Merle Moore. She is survived by her son Randall (wife Jeanie) Moore; sister Carolyn “Cookie” (husband Bud) Burroughs; foster daughter Linda (husband Russell) Johnson; foster grand-daughters Tara (husband Eric and his daughter Lucy) Wingrat and April Johnson; nieces Sandy, Kitty Lea, Cindy, Angie, and Amber; nephews Tommy, Adam, Todd, and Buddy; and numerous friends.
Memorial Services to honor Sally will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Assembly of God in Upper Glade with Rev. Marty Cowger officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Sally’s memory to Webster Springs Main Street, PO Box 66 Webster Springs, WV 26288.
