Marion Junior Bennett, 91 of Webster Springs passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born February 20, 1922 in Webster Springs to Marion O. and Nancy Gregory Bennett and was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County and a coal miner. He attended Cherry Falls Chapel and was a member of the UMWA.
Junior is survived by his sons Marion L. (Shirley) Bennett and Richard (Mary) Bennett both of Webster Springs; daughter Charlotte (Byran) Petenbrink of Martin, GA; sister Louise Zirkle of Carlsbad, NM; five grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marian Emogene Straley; three brothers; and six sisters.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Point Mountain Cemetery, Webster Springs.
