Margel Mae Coontz Brooks, 85 of Webster Springs went home to join her husband and together be with the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2017 at her home. She was born January 27, 1932 in Wendel, WV to Isaac Newton Coontz and Ola Lucy Beckwith Coontz Baier and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.
She attended Point Mountain Church when she was able and was Christian by faith. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Brooks Builder’s Supply in Cherry Falls. She enjoyed cooking, making pies and candy, listening to gospel music, and listening to the scanner. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margel is survived by her sons Stephen Ray Postelwait and Arthur Eddie Brooks; step-daughter Karen Brooks Channell; brother Marvin Lindy Coontz of Florida, NY; sister Joyce Ann Coontz Talbert of Akron, OH; grandsons Chris Brooks and Robert Channell; granddaughter Lori; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Brooks; brothers Sterling D. Coontz and Richard T. Coontz; and sisters Katherine Coontz Postelwait, Hazel Marie Coontz Collins, and Reta Coontz Woods Pugh.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Margel’s life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Parcoal.
