After years of declining health, Mabel Alene (Snyder) Harrison departed this life for her Heavenly home on Friday, July 15, 2016.

She was born July 19, 1924 in River Seam, Monongalia County, WV to Nellie Phyllis (Mullins) (Snyder) Coombs and Irad Lee Snyder.  She was also the step-daughter of the Rev. Russell Coombs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Harrison; daughter, Brenda Kay (Harrison) Williams; son, James Arthur Harrison; brothers, Junior Snyder, Jimmy Coombs and Arthur Coombs; sister, Sandra Jean (Coombs) Gibson; special aunts, Ella (Mullins) Oliver and Macel Mae (Mullins) Clynes, and granddaughters, Rebecca Marie Williams and Jennifer (Williams) Cogar.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons, Johnny R. Harrison of Webster Springs, who was her loving and dedicated caregiver for the past 15 years, Warren P. “Buster” Harrison and wife, Rachel of Concord, NC, and Randy D. Harrison and wife, Christine of Mt. Pleasant, NC; two daughters, Janet L. Shupp and husband, David of Stafford, VA, and Phyllis A. Spencer and husband, Jack of Spotsylvania, Va.; brother, Danny Coombs of Hacker Valley; sisters, Shirley Gunno of Sun City, AZ, and Helen Legg and husband, Roy, of DeFuniak Springs, FL; special niece, Susan Sweaker of Cowen; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a Protestant by faith. She attended Webster Springs Elementary and High School, and lived most of her entire life in Webster County.   She served as a homemaker, a grocery clerk, and various other odd jobs, always doing whatever she needed to do to provide for her family.  When her health was good, she loved to crochet and read, but macular degeneration stole those from her years ago.  She looked forward to and always enjoyed visits with family and friends anytime they could come see her.

Service will be held 1PM, Monday, July 18, 2016 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs.  Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs.  Friends may join the family for visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.
