Lorene Gay Hamrick Garvin, 81 of Diana passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 23, 1935 in Webster Springs to Lacy and Zomie Smith Hamrick and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.
She enjoyed going to church, singing, and taking care of her family. She loved flowers and was a friend to everyone she met. She was Christian by faith, attending church throughout Diana and Webster Springs, meeting many friends along the way.
Lorene is survived by her sons David (Marlene) Garvin, Garry (Marsha) Garvin, and Randy (Burna) Garvin; daughters Patricia Hayhurst (Robert Weeks), Sharon Garvin (James Pugh), Carolyn (Daniel) Westfall, Debbie (Kenney) Lough, Barbara Garvin (Tony Hathaway), Brenda Garvin, Marilyn Garvin, and Donna Garvin (Chuck Simmons); brothers Frank (Veda) Hamrick, George (Cheryl) Hamrick, and Tommy (Virginia) Hamrick; sisters Maddie Dodge and Addie Atkinson; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and extended church family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl Lemon Garvin; son Jerry Garvin; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Lorene’s life will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Willie Hamrick Cemetery, Webster Springs.
