Leota Blanche Crouse Smith Townsend, 87 of Marlinton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Pocahontas Center Nursing Home. She was born September 10, 1925 in Hot Springs, VA to John and Fannie Miles Crouse and was a homemaker. She loved the Lord and was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed watching TV and talking to her friends.
Leota is survived by her husband Everett Townsend of Marlinton; sons Elbert Marion "Junior" Smith, Jr. of Romney and Edward Goyn Smith of Marlinton; daughters Karen Sue Gotschall of Hot Springs and Sandra Pyles of Romney; two sisters; grandchildren Georgina, Chris, and G.W. Gotschall and Anthony Jordan; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Elbert Marion Smith, Sr.; several brothers and sisters; and special nieces Renee' and Jamie.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 with Douglas E. Pyles, Minister officiating. Leota will be laid to rest next to her first husband in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Grassy Creek, Webster Springs.
