Karl Nicholas "Nick" Stewart

Karl Nicholas “Nick” Stewart, 76, of Jumbo, passed away in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Born June 8, 1948 in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late Robert William and Addie Lea “Shorty” (Brown) Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delmas Stewart; sister, Gustava Hodder; father-in-law, Delbert McCoy; and his son, Bryan Rexroad.

Nick had an immense love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an avid coon hunter, being a very active member in the Braxton and Webster County Coon Clubs. An Army Veteran, Nick served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he spent the majority of his life working as a security guard.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tammy (McCoy) Stewart; son, Robert Franklin “Jake” (Destiny) Stewart of Heaters; daughter, Ashley (Ethan Bender) McCoy of Jumbo; grandchildren: Logan and Landon Rexroad, Brayden Stewart, and Zachary Bender; siblings: Buster Brown, Betty Huffman, and Joe Brown; mother-in-law, Darlene McCoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Services to celebrate Nick’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Butch Rose officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation 6pm-9pm on Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the McCoy Cemetery, Jumbo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
