Joy Cogar
October 3, 1926 — February 17, 2017
Joy Mae Cogar age 90 of Webster Springs passed away Friday February 17, 2017. Joy was born October 3, 1926 at Desert Fork and was the daughter of the late Oliver and Louie Ware Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Luciano.
Joy was a member of the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church. She was very active with the Webster County Senior Citizens Activity Center, Webster County Silver Haired Legislature and also volunteered with many other activities and civil organizations.
Surviving are her children; Oran O’Dell Cogar, Jr and his wife Rosemary of Hacker Valley, Patty Duke of Mount Airy, MD, Margaret Jordan of Tennessee, Wilma Taylor and her husband Mike of Winfield, Elizabeth Boyd and her husband Ron of Greenbackville, VA and Gloria Cogar of Webster Springs; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters; Patty Green of Ohio and Ruth Hines of Richwood and also a brother David Michael Ware of Nitro.
Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday February 25, 2017 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Burial will follow at Vance Cemetery, Hacker Valley. Friends may call 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
