John Robert “Poke” Payne, 52 of Oak Hill, formerly of Webster Springs, passed away on Wednesday, November 08, 2017 at Bowers hospice House in Beckley. He was born December 09, 1964 in Webster Springs to Arnold and Patricia Payne and was a drywall contractor.
Poke enjoyed playing football at Webster County High School and was the recipient of the Delmer Green Award. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors.
Poke is survived by his mother Patty Payne; brother Jimmy Payne; sisters Charlotte Adkins and Carol (husband Gary) Stout; niece Tracy Adkins; nephews Corey Adkins and Cole Payne; and other extended family and friends.
In keeping with Poke’s wishes, cremation will take place and no public services will be held at this time.
