John Farrell Cogar, 58 of Webster Springs passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at United Hospital Center after a brief illness. He was born December 1, 1954 in Buckhannon to Lonnie and Maxine Gilles Cogar and was a lifelong resident of Webster Springs. He attended Jumbo Community Church, was a member of the Odd Fellows and past member of the Diana and Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Departments. He was an EMT for Webster Memorial EMS since 1980 and also worked part-time at NAPA Auto Parts.
John is survived by his wife Sarah Jean Foster Cogar; sons Steven Cogar of Diana, Josh (Courtney) Cogar of Erbacon, and Lonnie R. Cogar of Alum Creek; his father; step-sons Donnie (Cindy) Carpenter and Larry (Misty) Carpenter both of Webster Springs; step-daughters Bonnie Davis of Nicholas County and Virginia (Brian) Cook of Ohio; brothers Harrison (Teresa) Cogar of Webster Springs and Tedd Cogar of Indiana, PA; sisters Fay (companion Jimmy Hinley) Cogar of Webster Springs and Ann Cogar of Austell, GA; one grandson; 9 step-granddaughters; 2 step-grandsons; one step-great-grandson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Cogar Cemetery, Webster Springs.
