James Jarvis Harper, Jr., 60, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 in Buckhannon, WV, along with his companion, Judy Young.

Born April 7, 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ruby (Dotson) and James Jarvis Harper, Sr.

Jim was blessed with a great musical ability whether it was singing or playing his bass or lead guitars. He was a member of several bands throughout his life, but was a recent member of the Bluegrass Gospel Group. He was also a proud Army Veteran and member of the American Legion Riders of Missouri.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Wesley Clayton (Michelle Briles), and James Jarvis Harper, III; grandchildren: Ryder, Paisley, Rya, Liam, and Isabella; sister, Lynn (Archie) Williams; and his companion’s son, James Dylan Young; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held 3pm, Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Cecil Williams officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation one hour prior to the service from 2pm-3pm.
