Herbert M. “Bub” Knicely, 83, of Mayfield, KY, formerly of Webster Springs, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Hospice Care Center of Paducah.
Born November 23, 1934, in Colliers, WV, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Knicely. In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Knicely (wife, Norma); and sisters, Bessie Handshaw (husband, Lon), Irene Knicely, Lena Bell Hall (husband, Delbert), Norma Jean Green (husband, Luther), Elenora Morris, and Edith Hall (Hayward).
Herbert was a retired Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the local Moose Lodge and enjoyed sports; particularly, baseball, golf, and bowling. He was also a faithful member of the Trace Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Janet (Cogar) Knicely; son, Mark Allen (wife, Karen) Knicely of Danville, IL; grandchildren, Hank William (fiancé, Hallie) Knicely and Holly Noel (husband, Jonah) Stitt; great-grandson, Trenton Alexander Mountry; nephew, Ronnie (wife, Sandy) Handshaw, who was more like a brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Services to celebrate Herbert’s life will be held 11am, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with the Reverend Kyle Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Diana.
Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
