Helen Cochran

Helen Ruth (Carpenter) Cochran, 83, of Diana passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston. She was born February 15, 1937 in Webster Springs to Stephen Harlan and Dortha (Green) Carpenter and lived most of her life in Webster County. She met Bert “Frank” Cochran in 1955 and they spent 59 years together, a few in Ohio but most of them in West Virginia. She was a homemaker and attended Big Run Union Mission Church and was Christian by faith. Helen enjoyed reading, working puzzles, gardening, collecting Home Interior, and raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her sons, James F. (wife Barbara) Cochran,  Bert Steven Cochran, John Allen (wife Brenda) Cochran, and Hunter Lee Wright (grandson); daughters Ruth Lynn (husband, David) Crislip and Linda Jo "Hippie" (Randy); daughter-in-law Debbie Cochran; brother, Stephen Harlan Carpenter, Jr.; grandchildren, Jayson Cochran, Melissa Cochran, Tara Payne Troastle, April Cochran, Amber Hamrick, Chandice Cochran, Patricia Skidmore, Ericka Cochran, Justin Mitchell, and Courtney Cochran; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert “Frank” Cochran; son, Richard Lee Cochran; grandson, Bert Steven Cochran, II; sisters, Josephine Carpenter, Juanita Duckworth, and Margie Stalnaker.

Friends may join the family for visitation Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.  Services to celebrate Helen's life will be held at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Big Run Cemetery, Diana.
