Harry Everett Cochran, 76 went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife of 54 years, Carla "Sue" Cochran, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Harry lived in Shallotte, NC after retiring from the coal mines.  He was born in Diana, WV, July 3, 1934, to Daniel Cochran and Opal Chapman Cochran who preceded him in death.

He and Sue married in 1956 and raised four children:  Sherry (Larry) Mitchell of Richmond, VA, Vincent (Joy) Cochran of Nesbit, MS, Jeff (Debbie) Cochran and Rockey (Kim) Cochran all of Shallotte, NC.  He is also survived by grandchildren:  Jayme, Brandy, and Daniel (Danny), 5 great grandchildren, brother:  Jerry (Mary) Chapman of West Salem, OH and step sister:  Shirley Carpenter of Columbus, OH.  He had many special friends:  John Baughman and Jimmy Aleshire, Connie Ivey of Shallotte (who was like a daughter), and Chedy Manning (his compassionate caregiver) as well as his dear family and church family at Harvest Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church and his family and friends in West Virginia.  One of Harry's proudest accomplishments was the time he spent with his family traveling as the "Union Valley Gospel Singers", leading souls to Christ.  "well done good and faithful servant."

He was a member of Harvest Fellowship Pentecostal Church of Shallotte, serving on the board of the church for 19 years and was involved in many of the ministries of the church.  He enjoyed playing bass guitar in the praise band.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Word of Life Fellowship Church, Diana, WV, with Rev. Eddie Bender and Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Big Run Cemetery, Diana, WV.  Friends may call at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, WV, on Friday, Feb. 4, from 6-9 p.m.
