Harold “Jim” Cowger, Sr., 79 of Webster Springs passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the home of his son. He was born October 17, 1937 in Briar Ridge to Isaac and Susannah Degarmo Cowger and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. Jim enjoyed working on cars, supervising, and telling others how to do it. He formerly worked in the woods for Dink Cogar.
Jim is survived by his sons Harold Cowger, Jr., Randall Lee (Betty “Darlene”) Cowger, and Carl “Dwayne” (companion Wendy McCourt) Cowger; sisters Cora Degarmo, Mildred Carr, and Shirley Senate; and granddaughter Katrina Rose Cowger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Ware Cowger; son John David Cowger; sisters Maxine and Irene Cowger; and brothers Richard, Bill Jr. and John Cowger.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, January 7, 2016 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Chris Cosner officiating. Interment will follow in Vance Cemetery, Hacker Valley.
