Harold "Zane" Lowther, 74 of Webster Springs, WV, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, in Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV. He was born in Webster Springs, WV, March 18, 1938, son of the late Walter Lowther and Orla Hinkle Lowther of Hacker Valley, WV. He was County Superintendent of Highways for Webster County for many years. He lived all his life in Webster County, was a member of Addison Lodge #116 A.F. & A.M., former member of Webster Springs Lions Club, and Woodchopping Planning Committee. He was a US Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father: Walter Lowther, and wife: Sandra Knight Lowther.
He is survived by his daughters: Melisa Green of Charleston, WV, and Cheryl Aleshire of Oak Hill, WV, mother: Orla Hinkle Lowther, brother: Max Lowther of Hacker Valley, WV, sisters: Janice Casto of San Antonio, TX, and Sharon Gum of Hacker Valley, WV, grandchildren: Ingrid Davis of Oak Hill, Sara Smith of Pinnacle, NC, and Joshua Lowther of Caldwell; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Brandon Moll officiating. Interment will follow in Alexander Anderson Cemetery at Mt. Zion Church in Hacker Valley.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
