Gueard Jordan

December 12, 1928 — March 26, 2018

Gueard Zane Jordan, 89 of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Webster County Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born December 12, 1928 in Webster County to Bethel and Melba Arbogast Jordan and was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He and his wife owned and operated the Webster Springs Hotel and Restaurant; he worked at H&R Block, was a school teacher, a bus driver, case worker for DHHR, a veterinarian assistant, was a farmer, gardener, and did odd jobs. He was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at New Hope Church, a member of the WV Association of Retired School Employees, and was former Commander of the Webster Springs VFW Post. He enjoyed reading, fishing, writing poetry, and was the best story teller in the world. He always said “Never stop learning.”

Gueard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Pauline Tanner Jordan; children Joyce Jordan, Gary (companion Shawna Short) Jordan, Wayne (wife Jennifer) Jordan, Trish (husband Rodney) Postalwait, Crystal (husband Rick) Smith, and Charles “Chuck” (companion Linda) Jordan; brothers Patty (wife Delores) Jordan and Michael (wife Vera) Jordan; sister Dolly Berger; grandchildren Gary (Sheena) Jordan, II, Anthony (wife Sherry) Jordan, Stephen Postalwait, Michael Burnside, Zachary (Shelby) Jordan, Zarron Jordan, Brandy (Seth) Bostic, Chantel Merritt, Jeff (companion Jennifer) Miller, Sheena (Trevor) Jordan, BJ (Stephanie) Smith, Cody (companion Megan) Smith, Charlie Jordan,  Chelsie Jordan, Jonathon and Josh Clay, and Josh Scranage; great-grandchildren Presley Jordan, Gary Jordan, III, Brooklyn Tolley, Bryson Zinn, Conner Merritt, Jessalynn Jordan, Gavin Smith, Brennon Smith, Kaleb Clark, Delilah, Peyton, and Michelle Burnside, Malachi Jordan, and Kynlee Jordan who is expected to arrive at any time; sisters-in-law June Jordan and Doris Jordan; and brother-in-law Paul Fisher; his dog Honey Bear; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Katherine Jordan; granddaughter Stephanie Postalwait; sister Hope Fisher; and brothers Benny Jordan and Lowell Calvin Jordan.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 5:00 PM with Rev. Lonnie Casto and Pastor Chris Cosner officiating. Military Honors will immediately follow.
