Golden Edgar Skeens, 94, of Webster Springs went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2020. His loving wife, Norma Ruth (Moffit) Skeens, 83, followed him there on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Both passed while at home.
Golden was a coal miner and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Born June 18, 1925 in Desert, WV, he was the son of the late Pleasant Wilson and Oma Eva (Brooks) Skeens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sister, Goldie Moffit; brothers, Charles Skeens, Gilbert Skeens, Junior Skeens, Bernard Skeens; sisters, Rose Mick, Daisy Fisher, Surilda McCourt, Marie Bender, and Lily Tracy.
Norma was a teacher’s aid, a former Golden Horseshoe winner, and she enjoyed crocheting, gardening produce and flowers, and reading.
Born February 24, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Chloe (Cogar) Moffit. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Moffit, and Dale Moffit; sisters, Mary Wright, and Geraldine Cochran.
They were Christians and attended Union Valley and Orndoff Church.
Left to cherish their memory are children, Edgar Skeens of Webster Springs, Cheryl McCarvell of TX, Steve Skeens of Webster Springs , Dean Skeens of PA, and Joe Skeens of Cowen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Norma's brother Gerald Moffit; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their passing.
Due to the restrictions on the funeral home during the COVID-19 outbreak, there will be a graveside service 12:00pm, Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Harrison-Cochran Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Skeens officiating.
