Glenn Fisher

Glenn S. Fisher, 90 of Webster Springs passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Webster Continuous Care Center in Cowen.  He was born April 22, 1923 in Diana to Stowie Russell and Lula Baker Fisher and was a lifelong resident of Webster County.  Glenn was a coal miner, a woodsman, and owned and operated Glenn's Texaco in Webster Springs. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII and receiving a Purple Heart.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting with his brother-in-law Romeo, socializing with his friends, and singing.  He loved to travel with his wife Violet and enjoyed driving around and going to his favorite restaurant, Shoney's.  Glenn enjoyed his stay at Webster Continuous Care Center and appreciated the care given to him while he was there.   A special thank you goes out to those caretakers who befriended Glenn and made him feel at home.

Glenn is survived by his brothers Alfred Fisher of TN, Lloyd "Leck" (Clarabell) Fisher of OH, and Arnold (Kathie) Fisher of WV; sisters Retha Jefferson of NC, Elsie Sabourin of MI, Belva Carpenter of CO, and Shelva Jean Perkins of Diana; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends Ralph and Yvonne Cool of Webster Springs.  He was preceded in death by his wife Violet Virginia Sharp Fisher; parents; brothers Willard, Denver, Franklin, and Delbert Fisher; and sister Lora Blakley.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Cowger officiating.  Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs.
