Gary Arlin McCourt, 71 of Webster Springs, passed away on Saturday, September 09, 2017 at United Hospital Center. He was born August 11, 1946 in Webster County to Ora and Rosa McCourt and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. He worked for Central Funeral Supply for several years, setting graveside equipment and vaults. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and going four-wheeling, and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. He got along with everyone and was willing to help his friends and anyone who needed a helping hand. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife Ella Jean Tanner McCourt; son Gary Lawrence (wife Ronda) McCourt of Camden on Gauley; grandsons Walker and Dalton McCourt; sisters-in-law Evelyn (husband Bill) Stoman, Alma Tucker, and Doris Green Tanner; brother-in-law Clyde (wife Donna) Tanner; and a host of friends, neighbors, nieces, and nephews. The last of seven children, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers Oatha, Earl, Wendell, and Lawrence McCourt; infant brother Gerald McCourt; and sister Stella Green.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Tom Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in Isaac McCourt Cemetery, Webster Springs.
