Floyd Allen “Chainsaw” Clayton, 80, of Webster Springs, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
He was previously a Deacon for First Baptist Church, where he was a member, a trustee for Sand Run Baptist Church, a drill rig operator for Peaker Run Coal Company, and a United States Air Force Veteran. Floyd enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, recently had taken up cooking, and was an avid blood donor who donated enough in his lifetime to save over 100 lives.
Born March 12, 1939, he was the son of the late James and Ocie Blankenship Clayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Andrea (Monohan) Clayton; son, Jeffrey Clayton; brother, Marvin Eugene Clayton; and sister, Shelva Jean Clayton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beatrice (Osburn) Clayton; daughters, Sherry (husband, James) Hall, Donna (David) Mullen, and Susan (Gary) Shrader, who was adopted by love; step-daughter, Lucinda (husband, Tom) Parks; brothers, Stanley (wife, Caroline) Clayton, Ronnie (wife, Ruth) Clayton, Tommy Clayton, Roger (wife, Lou) Clayton; sisters, Debbie (husband, Stanley) Knight, Mary (husband, Gary) Wilson, and Janet (husband, Dan) Wright; numerous grand- and great-grandchildren to mourn his passing.
Services to celebrate Floyd’s life will be held 11am on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Bennie Cowger officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin.
Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9 pm, Sunday evening at the funeral home.
