Edwin J. Roode, 67 of Webster Springs passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at his home. He was Christian by faith.

He was born April 28, 1959 in Killeen, Texas to the late Paul and Geraldine Pugh Rode. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a Master Sergeant with 22½ years of service. While serving, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 bronze oak leaf clusters, Air Force Achievement Metal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Metal with one silver and one bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short and Long Tour Ribbon, and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters.

Once he retired, he returned to Webster County to make it his home. He was a graduate of Glenville State College, receiving an Education Degree. He was a substitute teacher in the Webster County Schools for a short time then he tutored at Hacker Valley Elementary School for a short time. He also enjoyed sharing his love of rocks with the students as well as his nieces and nephews.

Eddie enjoyed family gatherings, reading, family genealogy, and the company of his cats.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-niece Laura Hall Crouse and great-great-niece McKinley Faith.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Mikael (Bev) Roode of Bolair; sister Linda Hall of Webster Springs; nieces and nephews: Dwayne (Tanya) Hall, Amy (Jon) Miller, and Kristopher and Jonathan Roode; great-nieces and great-nephews: Destini (Patrick) Miller, Spencer (Madie) Hall, Damian Miller, Kristopher Roode, Jr., Kaylee (Zach) Miller, Ashlyn Hall, Natalie Roode, Laura Miller, and Amelia Roode; step-great-niece Autumn (Cody) Sparks; step-great-nephew Luke (Chelsey) Dodrill; great-great-nieces and nephews: Maverick Hall, Blaine Sparks, Anthony Miller, Hadley Sparks, Casen Miller, Waylon Dodrill, Noah Blankenship, Ella Blankenship, and Baby Boy Hall due in September; his cousin Joe (Deb) Cordell; and many extended family and friends to mourn his passing.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Ware Cemetery in Hacker Valley.
