Edward Sylvester Skidmore, 86, died on April 30, 2011, in the VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, WV. He was born in Webster Springs, WV, May 21, 1924, son of the late Jerry Edward and Dovie Marie Yeager Skidmore. He was a construction worker, living all his life in Webster County. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and attended the Word of Life Fellowship Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Lough Skidmore, granddaughter: Alisha Reyes, brothers, Neeley, Russell, Charley, and Henery Skidmore, and sisters: Katherine Marge, and Janie.
Mr. Skidmore is survived by his sons: Charles Skidmore of Pennsylvania, Eddie Skidmore of Hacker Valley, WV, Neeley Skidmore of Webster Springs, WV, Randy Skidmore of Braxton County, WV, and Steve Skidmore of Craigsville, WV, daughter: Inez Reyes of Ronceverte, WV, brother: Bill Skidmore of Valley Head, WV, grandchildren: Amanda Boggs, Matthew Skidmore, Mary Skidmore, Barbara Stump, Terrie Barnes, Tallah Alderman, Miranda Blankenship, Beth Skidmore, Dara Acord, Jerry Skidmore, Justin Skidmore, Diane Redmond, Charles Skidmore, and Lavana Reyes, and 17 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Rev. Eddie Bender officiating.. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Webster Springs with VFW Post 3738 rendering military rites. Friends may call on Monday, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
