Edward Walter Lunceford, 86 of Floral City, FL passed away at his home on Monday, March 20, 2017 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Edward was born December 14, 1930 in Replete to the late Frederick and Virginia “Jennie” Samples Lunceford. On December 18, 1954 he married Wilda Snyder with whom he shared 62 years of loving marriage. He and Wilda moved to Citrus County, FL 29 years ago from Kent, Ohio. Edward was a United States Army Veteran and retired as a construction operating engineer after 33 years of service.
Edward was a charter member of the Floral City VFW #7122, a member of the Model A’s Club, the Fun T’s of Central FL (a Model T enthusiast club), and the Operating Engineers of Ohio. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his antique cars and playing string instruments. Edward also loved his cats.
In addition to his loving wife Wilda, he will be mourned by several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in law. He was preceded in death by his brother Victor Lunceford and sisters Garnett Coffman, Beatrice Shaver, Geneva Robinson, and Ina Gae Hinkle.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Hacker Valley. Funeral Services to celebrate Edward’s life will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Cecil Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Radabaugh Cemetery, Replete.
