Denzil Ray Chapman, 95 of Diana passed away on August 2, 2019 at Braxton Health Care Center; “He has gone to his long home.” He was born May 22, 1924 in Diana to the late Sherman and Dora Hines Chapman. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Eva Chapman and a brother Doy Lee Chapman.
Denzil retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked as an assembly worker for over 26 years. He was a United States Army Air Corps Veteran having served in Europe during WW II. He was a member of Word of Life Fellowship Church, enjoyed restoring old vehicles, and always had a smile.
He is survived by his wife Opal Anderson McMillion Chapman; daughters Rosemary Chapman and Marlene (husband John Boy) Szuch; step children; Dwight (wife Sharon) McMillion, Sheila (husband Doyle) McCourt and Betty Amick ;sisters Lena Stout and Madeline Nichols; granddaughter, Georgia Lee; one great-grandchild, Lauren Eva Lee; step grandchildren, Amy, Sari, Julie, Douglas, Elizabeth, Melanie and J.D; step great grandchildren, Kaylea, Joshua, Jack, Jonah, Angela and Kendra Dawn, Maverick, Abby and Zander; and many other extended family members and friends.
Friends may join the family for visitation 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Bender officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Diana.
