Dennie Roscoe "Ted" McCourt, Sr., 67 of Webster Springs, went home to meet his Lord Jesus on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Ted was born July 22, 1944 in Webster County to Roscoe and Surilda Skeens McCourt and was a technician for Sparks Propane. He lived most of his life in Webster County and spent 16 years in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ted was a member of Union Valley Union Mission Church where he was the Youth Leader. He was also the former Youth Leader for the Union Mission Conference. He had a way with young people who he loved and who loved him. They all called him "Teddy Bear". Ted was a true Man of God who never met a stranger and always had a smile. He loved his family and his grandkids.
Ted is survived by his wife Connie Tracy McCourt; children Dennie (Karen) McCourt of Savannah, MO, Gary (Sindie) McCourt of Cameron, MO, Debbie Clevenger of Diana, Lisa (Tim) Carpenter of Harrisonburg, VA, and Denise (Darrin) Clevenger of Diana; grandchildren Tim, Roscoe, Chris, Elizabeth, Brandon, and Steven McCourt of MO; Courtney and Coty Carpenter of VA; and Lindsey, Riley, and Harley Clevenger of WV; great-grandchildren Noah, Asher, Honesti, and Jenson McCourt of MO; brothers and sisters Jennings McCourt of Webster Springs, Irene Scritchfield of Clarksburg, Arlene "Boots" Miller of Charlotte, NC, and Ann Kamine of Gassaway; 22 nephews; 19 nieces; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Verdon McCourt; sisters Vella Hall, Midge Hamrick, Shelby McElroy, and Judy Payne; and grandson Jeremy "Bubba" McCourt.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Ted's life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Curt Davis and Rev. Gerald Hamrick officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Cochran Cemetery.
