David Austin McCourt

David Austin McCourt passed away on Saturday, January 24, in Little Rock, Arkansas. His death was the result of a two-car accident that occurred while traveling to Alabama to perform storm cleanup. David was born on Feb 7, 1989, in Buckhannon, WV. He attended Webster County Schools and participated in many activities and extracurricular sports. David played at whatever position he was most needed for the Highlander Football team, competing in the state playoffs twice, and serving as Team Captain his Senior Year. After high school, David attended Fairmont State College for one year before enlisting in the United States Navy. During his 6-year enlistment, David served in the Special Forces S-E-R-E Division. He was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq twice each and traveled to nearly 30 countries on duty. Serving in the armed forces helped David make connections and friendships with people from all around the world. He truly was a man with HUNDREDS of Best Friends, being loved by everyone who met him.

It was during this time that David found the LOVE OF HIS LIFE, Diane Taylor, and her son, Aden. David and Diane successfully enjoyed a long-distance relationship throughout his enlistment in the NAVY. When David returned home, they were blessed with two more sons, Myles Austin and Chase William. After serving, David attended school to become a lineman and shortly after began his successful career working in this field. David loved his family and friends with everything he had. He was a kind, giving soul who never met a stranger.

Preceding David in death were his father David Austin McCourt, who passed away in 1993 as well as his Fraternal Grandparents, Nada June and Golden James McCourt and maternal grandfather Nelson E. Davis, Sr. David is survived by his wife Diane and sons Aden Taylor, Myles Austin McCourt, and Chase William McCourt of Webster Springs, WV. His Granny Carroll Ann Davis of Jumbo. Siblings: Ashley and Husband Andy Ray of Wichita, KS, Sister Nada June and husband Ryan Gilles of Wichita, KS, brother Matt and wife Jess McCourt of Flatwoods, WV, brother Billy Green of Webster Springs, WV, and special cousin Kenny Hall of Weston, WV. Early in his teen years, David blessed Mike and Connie Robinson by becoming a part of their family. He is survived by his honorary parents, Mike and Connie Robinson of Webster Springs, sister Meganne Robinson of Montrose, Colorado and Brother Quinten Robinson and wife Kim of Fairmont, WV. David also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and of course, hundreds of Best Friends.

Funeral Services to celebrate David’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Pastor Marty Cowger officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Cochran Cemetery.

Friends may join the family for visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
